Secretary of State Mark Rubio made an appearance with the press Friday after his attendance at the G7 Foreign Minister's meeting with partner countries in France.
He was asked about Ukraine Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelenskyy's claim that the US was commanding Kyiv hand over part of it's eastern land to Russia in order to guarantee American aid in a ceasefire plan. Rubio stated that this was just a plain lie.

Rubio said directly to the press, "“That’s a lie and I saw him say that. And it’s unfortunate he would say that because he knows that’s not true and that’s not what he was told.”
Zelenskyy had claimed that the United States want to end the conflict in Ukraine quickly in order to fully focus on its war with Iran. That is why the US are adamant on Ukraine forfeiting this piece of land.
Rubio denied this, stating that the U.S. was just relaying Russia's demands and that the U.S. can guarantee security only after the fighting has ended. He finished his statement to the press claiming that the U.S. will continue pushing for a peace deal.
The Ukrainian Presidential Office gave no comment on this discrepancy.
Zelenskyy has been in talks with other allies outside of the U.S. for support, urging their allies to not forget about Ukraine amidst the developing US and Iran war.
